Disability stories on your TV, radio and mobile phone for three weeks for IDPwD 2021

With over 4 million Australians living with a disability, having just one day to explore the range of stories from across the country is simply not enough.

And that’s why the ABC partners with International Day of Persons with Disabilities in a three-week campaign to feature a range of stories by and about people with disabilities on ABC websites, radio, social media, television and iview.

December 3 is United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPwD), a day to increase awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disabilities.

From November 19 to December 10, ABC features content created by and for people with disabilities, with stories exploring serious issues such as affordability and access to housing for people with disabilities, and the lighter side of life – like why a woman wrote a love letter to her disability.

Building on the success of the 2020 public call for story ideas, the ABC once again asked content creators with disabilities to submit their story ideas.

Over a thousand people have submitted ideas, from written articles to short films, from social media campaigns to radio audio series, and many of these will be featured throughout the three-week campaign and beyond. of the.

Crop returns once again, featuring more films of people with disabilities. Watch it on ABC TV on December 3 or watch it on iview, where you can also find a collection of TV shows, comedies and documentaries on disability-related topics.

You’ll hear guest co-hosts and segments on all ABC radio stations, including ABC Classic, Radio National, Triple J, Radio Australia, and ABC Kids Listen, as well as local ABC radio stations across the country.
