Francis Currie, Group Content Director, Music Radio at Wireless, is leaving the company to resume consulting work.
Francis joined Wireless in June 2017 and worked on the Wireless ILR brands in the UK and Ireland, and led the redesign of Virgin Radio UK.
He also led the development of Virgin Radio Anthems and Virgin Radio Chilled, which launched in January.
Francis led the team that launched the Chris Evans Breakfast Show with Sky on Virgin Radio UK, which drew over a million listeners in its first ten weeks on the air.
Wireless CEO Scott Taunton said, “Francis is an exceptional programmer. He brought his unparalleled insight and know-how into a practical leadership role that has truly been a game-changer for our music brands – and Virgin Radio UK in particular, which was named the fastest growing national station in terms of range and hours in the last round of RAJAR results.
“I wish Francis every success in his return to his consulting practice. He leaves with my thanks and I am happy that we can benefit from his expertise in the future.
Francis added: “The last two years have been an absolute blast. I am proud of what we have accomplished during such a pivotal time and, upon returning to the Board, I am delighted to count Wireless among our customers. I look forward to continuing my relationship with such a talented, creative and successful team. “
Prior to becoming a consultant, Francis was Group Program Director at Heart and held several positions at Emap, including Magic Launch Program Director, Emap Performance Music Director and Emap Television Program Director.
