Yes, Quentin Tarantino directed and co-written pulp Fiction, but no, he doesn’t own it – at least that’s according to studio Miramax, which sues him for those pulp Fiction NFT it recently announced.

Miramax was Oscar’s former magnet studio owned by Harvey Weinstein and his brother Bob. Since Harvey Weinstein’s incarceration on sexual grounds, however, the studio has severed ties with the disgraced producer.

Hollywood journalist Says the lawsuit claims Tarantino did not get permission to launch his non-fungible tokens based on the Oscar-winning crime classic; as previously stated, the NFTs were to contain previously unseen secrets and other goodies from the movie.

Commerce cites Miramax’s lawsuit as saying it was filed “in order to uphold, preserve and protect its contractual and intellectual property rights relating to one of Miramax’s most iconic and valuable cinematic properties.”

Further, he states, “Left unchecked, Tarantino’s conduct could mislead others…. “

However, Tarantino’s lawyers responded, saying NFTs fell under special rights he listed in his contract. Trade notes that the situation could be legally murky, given that NFTs did not exist when Tarantino made the 1994 film.
