A new Virgin-branded radio station for the LGBTQ + community will launch on June 7 and will remain on the air for four months.
Virgin Radio Pride UK will see its program hosted by LGBTQ + presenters including Tia Kofi, Matt Cain, Emma Goswell, Debbie Ryan, Phil Clifton, Shivani Dave, Vicki Blight and Stephen Sullivan who will join a conversation with guest celebrity contributors.
It will be broadcast on DAB in London and via the usual online applications.
The station will also offer Pride Festivals across the UK, partnering with local celebrations including Blackpool and Oxford Pride, either to amplify the existing event with outside broadcasts or to help replace canceled events at the antenna.
Virgin Radio Pride UK has also partnered with a range of partners who will feature in the station’s programming, including The Food Chain, the charity that exists to ensure people living with HIV in London can access nutrition. they need to lead healthy, independent lives, Shout Mental Health Charity, UK Aids Memorial Quilt Partnership, All About Trans and The Log Books podcast.
Other scheduled content includes documentaries on what it’s like to be bisexual in 2021, how LGBTQ + communities have helped shape dance music from Disco to House and Matt Cain’s weekly magazine – The Sunday Roast – the Sunday afternoon, including a lively discussion on LGBTQ + issues with panelists from organizations including All About Trans.
